Pumpkin Spice Latte

Let’s welcome the month of October with pumpkin-spice latte/cappuccino’s! (My favorite fall flavored coffee ever). Corey and I used to go to Starbucks every morning before work until I calculated the cost of coffee per year, plus the time we had to spend waiting in line during the morning rush to get two cups. We still love you Starbucks!! We’ll probably lose our Gold member status pretty soon! We bought an espresso (#ranciliosilviaforever) machine which is one of the best purchases we have ever made. Now we can have a fresh cup of coffee bliss any time we want (technically, anytime Corey is available as I have not yet mastered the art of pulling shots/steaming foam...LOL). Last week I googled pumpkin spice syrup recipes and ended up creating my own. Here I would like to share with you my homemade pumpkin spice syrup for your favorite hot beverages-latte/coffee/cappuccino/milk/hot chocolate. This recipe is for sure heathier than syrup at the store and made with real pumpkin.
Ingredients for pumpkin spice sauce:
-1 cup of water
- ½ cup of honey
-1 ½ teaspoons of pumpkin spice (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and all spice)
-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
- 5-6 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
Strain the sauce with cheese cloth. You can also adjust the above ingredients to your liking.

Directions:
Add all ingredients in a medium saucepan on the medium to low heat and stir until blended. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes and turn the heat off. Let it sit to cool. You can refrigerate it up to a week.
Adding fall touch to your favorite hot drinks with this homemade pumpkin syrup. Enjoy!! Let me know how it turns out if you try the recipe-I would love to hear ^_^

PS. We started decorating the front of the house with fall décor but have not quite finished yet. We plan to add Halloween accents since the 31st is right around the corner. If you like our DIY pumpkin in a lantern you just need: a lantern, remember medium to large so a pumpkin will fit comfortably inside; we got our lanterns from IKEA and they work great, one small pumpkin, and enough coffee beans to form a base. Worth Mentioning-If you go with the IKEA lantern just tape the gaps on each side of the lantern’s bottom with black duct, or electrical tape, (the vents are normally there for ventilation, but your beans will fall out if you do not tape them!) Lastly, just fill it up with coffee beans, then place your pumpkin in side-Voila!
